Ascent Arboriculture is an independent consultancy focused on tree condition and risk. We believe good tree management starts with sound, impartial assessment rather than assumptions, and we deliver advice that's clear enough to act on with confidence.
I'm James Worrall, an arboricultural consultant and the director of Ascent Arboriculture.
I've worked in arboriculture for over 15 years, with experience spanning practical tree work and professional tree inspection and consultancy. I now specialise in tree risk and condition assessments, mortgage tree reports and advice relating to protected trees.
I hold a BSc in Arboriculture, am a Professional Member of the Arboricultural Association (MArborA), a QTRA Registered User and hold the Professional Tree Inspection qualification.
Ascent Arboriculture is intentionally independent. When you instruct me, I carry out the site inspection, assess the trees and prepare the report myself. This provides continuity from the initial enquiry through to the final recommendations, and means you're dealing directly with the consultant responsible for the advice.
"I'm not trying to sell you the work — my job is to give you an honest assessment you can rely on."
My approach is to provide proportionate, practical recommendations based on the condition of the tree, its surroundings and the level of risk present.
I work across Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester, for everyone from homeowners with a single concerning tree to estate managers and public bodies responsible for hundreds.
Our assessments are grounded in formal qualifications and recognised industry methods, so our reports carry weight where it matters.

We don't profit from recommending works, so our advice is genuinely in your interest.
Tree risk is assessed using the Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA) method, following a consistent process for defensible, repeatable results.
